1. How much will I pay to ride the ATA Bus Fixed Route?

Seniors, Disabled and low income may apply for half fare discount card by completing the half fare application

2. Do you offer services for citizens of Riley County that do not live in Manhattan?

We provide a zone service to Northern Riley County. On Mondays and Tuesdays we make pick-ups between 7:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. We usually make our return trips between 1:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Twice a month, on the second and fourth Fridays, the ATA Bus offers a "county run". The ATA Bus picks up riders in the Leonardville, Riley, and Randolph areas and brings them to Manhattan for the day. The bus shuttles riders around town and then returns the riders home in the afternoon.

Service to and from Ogden is available Monday thru Friday.

Service to and from Ogden is available Monday thru Friday. Riders wishing to ride the bus need to call in to the Dispatcher and schedule a ride on the Fort Riley shuttle.

Door to door demand response service in Ogden is available for persons with mobility impairments. Persons eligible for this ADA service must complete an application. This service is a “safety net” for those persons who do not have the functional abilities to access and ride the Ogden route bus. Every certified individual for this ADA service is required to re-certify for continuing eligibility every three years upon becoming initially certified. Call the office for further information about this service. Our number is 537-6345.

3. How far in advance do I need to schedule a Demand Response ride?

We ask riders to schedule rides with the dispatcher at least 24 hours in advance.

4. How many vehicles are available for rides?

We currently operate fifteen vehicles. We have 1 mini van and 14 buses. Our buses and mini van are all equipped with ramps and lifts to accommodate the needs of the mobility impaired.

5. What hours does the ATA Bus operate?

The ATA Bus operates the following schedules
*Manhattan Fixed Routes Monday through Friday school out schedule 7:00 am to 6:00 pm
Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 pm
*Manhattan Demand Response Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 5:00 pm
*Green Valley, St. George, Pottawatomie County Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 5:00 pm
*Ft. Riley Shuttle Monday through Friday 6:00 am to 6:00 pm
*Junction City, Geary County Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 5:00 pm
*Route 1 Jardine Monday through Friday school year only 7:00 am to 9:00 pm
*University Crossing (Deviated Fixed Route) Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 5:00 pm
*Safe Ride Thursday through Saturday during school year only 11:00 pm to 3:00 am

6. Where does the funding for the ATA Bus come from?

We are a private nonprofit organization that receives funding from the following sources;
Federal Transit Administration
Kansas Department of Transportation
Kansas State University
Riley County
Pottawatomie County
Geary County
City of Manhattan
USD 383
User fees and donations

7. What Regional Services does ATA bus provide?

Riders in any of the ATA service areas including Manhattan, Riley County, Green Valley, St. George-Pottawatomie County, Junction City,Geary County and Ft. Riley may call Dispatch at 1-877-551-6345 or 785-537-6345 Monday thru Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm to schedule a ride. Please call 24 hours in advance to schedule rides. Cut off for scheduling next day rides is 5:00 pm

8. What if I don't live near the fixed routes?

Demand response services are still available to residents of Manhattan who live more than 3/4 of a mile outside of the fixed route service area. Please call Dispatch at 785-537-6345 with any questions.

9. What if I am mobility impaired and can not get to the bus stop?

With any of our shuttle or route services curb to curb demand response service is available for persons with mobility impairments. Persons eligible for the ADA service must complete an application. This service is a safety net for those persons who do not have the functional abilities to acces and ride route services. If you live within 3/4 of a mile of any of our route or shuttle services please call the office to request a special accomodations application.

10. What is the fare for demand response trips?

Within three miles of the city limits of Manhattan, Junction City, and Fort Riley trips are $2.00 each way. Beyond three miles each trip is $4.00 each way.
