10-27-21 Update: 38 new positive COVID cases in Riley County

RILEY COUNTY COVID UPDATE

(RILEY COUNTY, KS – October 27, 2021) Riley County has identified 38 new positive Coronavirus cases and 54 additional recoveries since the last report on October 21, 2021. 


In Riley County, since December, there have been a total of 238 positive cases from variants of concern


Four COVID-positive patients are currently under care at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan. Three patients, one of whom is fully vaccinated, are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). One unvaccinated patient is on the medical floor. 


Riley County Statistics for October 27

  • Total positive cases in Riley County Residents: 8,097

  • Total active: 92

  • Total recovered: 7,946

  • Total deaths: 59

  • Total variant cases: 238

Vaccine Operations: 

Riley County Health Department itself is currently providing third doses (boosters) of the COVID-19 vaccine. Those who are eligible at this point in time must have received the 2 dose series of Moderna or Pfizer greater than 6 months ago or the Johnson & Johnson vaccine more than 2 months ago. They also must fall into one of the following categories: 

• 65 years and older and residents in long-term care settings should receive a booster shot of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine, 

• aged 50–64 years with underlying medical conditions* should receive a booster shot of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine,

• aged 18–49 years with underlying medical conditions* may receive a booster shot of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine, based on their individual benefits and risks, and

• aged 18-64 years who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting** may receive a booster shot of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine, based on their individual benefits and risks.

Clinics will be held at the Riley County Family and Child Resource Center on the following dates. Individuals MUST schedule an appointment by visiting https://rileyco-110121.rsvpify.com. 

 

  • Monday Nov. 1 from 10 am – 3 pm 

  • Friday Nov. 5 from 10 am – 3 pm 

  • Monday Nov. 8 from 10 am – 3 pm

 

Testing

 Rapid and saliva testing is available for free. 


Testing is offered:

  • Monday through Friday KDHE will be at the Manhattan Town Center parking lot on the north side from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm offering ONLY PCR testing.

  • The Health Department will continue to offer Rapid testing (antigen) for symptomatic individuals. Please call our screening line to schedule an appointment 785-565-6560.

  • Testing is also available: 

    • Saturdays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Riley County Health Department. Please park in the spots on Wharton Manor Road. No appointment is needed. This is the last weekend we will offer testing. 

    • Thursdays from 6pm-8pm by appointment. This is for symptomatic individuals. Please call our screening line to schedule an appointment 785-565-6560.

Week 42 (October 17 - October 23) 3.2%

  • 42 positive

  • 1323 total tests

Week 41 (October 10 - October 16) 3.3%

  • 50 positive

  • 1514 total tests

Two-week average: 3.24%

  • 92 positive 

  • 2745 total tests
